I lived on the Vesterålen islands in northern Norway (subarctic region) from 2020 to 2022 and repeatedly photographed the constantly ongoing plastic pollution. In many bays, the garbage washes up, gets caught in the rough rocky beaches and thus pollutes the coast. Over time, the surf grinds the pieces of plastic into microplastics, which then enter the food chain.
