Beyond the obvious
This drawing illustrates the various aspects of Arctic environments and their significance in our society.
The upper part of the iceberg depicts the most common perceptions of the Arctic, such as permafrost, unique biodiversity, tourism, and warming.
However, the Arctic encompasses many overlooked aspects. Some are direct consequences of the obvious, while others are forgotten or ignored. A non-exhaustive list of these topics is represented in the submerged part of the iceberg.
The words are written in different languages to highlight not only the geographic spread of the Arctic but also its international connections, politics, and historical ties between Arctic countries and the rest of the world.
